2 people shot to dying in murder-suicide at Marriott Marquis Houston hotel in downtown, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Two folks had been shot to loss of life in the lobby of a Marriott lodge in downtown Houston on Tuesday in what law enforcement say was a murder-suicide.

It transpired at the Marriott Marquis Houston hotel on Walker Avenue at all around 3:33 p.m.

According to an update issued by Houston Law enforcement Main Troy Finner, when officers arrived, they observed a female and a gentleman dead in the lobby.

Finner explained the target as a white woman in her late 20s. The suspect was described as a Black male in his late 30s.

He verified the taking pictures was a murder-suicide.

“The gentleman did appear in at some place … shot the woman and then quickly shot himself,” said Finner.

The main mentioned this wasn’t a random shooting and stated investigators imagine there was some type of romantic relationship among the two.

“Both equally of them arrived in with suitcases,” discussed Finner, who explained officers have spent the afternoon talking with lodge management. “They did have discussions that led men and women to feel they realized every single other.”

Investigators say no a person else was injured.

1 witness informed ABC13 many people experienced to operate out of the lobby and stated he was on the cellphone with his brother when he heard gunshots.

“The telephone basically slash off immediately so the first detail I did was connect with him right again,” he mentioned. “When I bought in touch with him, he stated [guests] have been essentially working out of a back doorway and ended up outdoors.”

The lodge is a popular getaway spot acknowledged for its rooftop Texas-shaped pool.
