There are still a lot of insurrectionists who have yet to be identified and arrested following their involvement in the Capitol insurrection last January 6. Hacked documents revealed that a pro-Trump website host was subpoenaed by law enforcement officials shortly after the insurrection.
The Washington Post reported Saturday that hacked documents revealed Epik, a provider of internet services for pro-Trump websites, brought in a trove of information that also sheds light on the moves by law enforcement to tackle the Capitol insurrection. The information also included internal memos that described subpoenas from law-enforcement agencies for information about two Epik-registered websites that are pro-Trump, including two domains named Thedonald.win and Maga.host weeks after the Capitol insurrection.
“One of the internal notes, which appeared to have been written by an Epik employee, mentions a grand jury subpoena, a request to preserve records for 90 days, and a nondisclosure order — a court-approved document that law enforcement can secure to prohibit tech companies from telling customers what information they’d shared as part of an investigation. ‘DO NOT tell Registrant,’ read the note which did not include further details of the investigation,” said the report.
Researchers expect that it may take months before the full cache of records and information is processed, which is equal to tens of millions of pages. The report goes on to explain that many researchers are also probing for information on who owns or administers the extremist domains.
Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Liz Cheney responded to critics of the January 6 House Select Committee who say that she is keeping the focus of the probe on the former president, who was impeached for the second time for inciting the riots. Cheney explained that Donald Trump is not going to go away even if people stop talking about him. Speaking on “60 Minutes” with host Lesley Stahl, Cheney said that the American public deserves better than having to choose between Joe Biden — whose policies she described as “disastrous” — and Trump, who violated his oath of office and does not believe in the rule of law.
“Those who think that by ignoring Trump, he will go away, has been proven wrong,” said Cheney.
