Donald Trump has left netizens to worry not only about the coronavirus outbreak but also about the upcoming 2020 presidential elections.
Since there are predictions that the POTUS could declare a state of national emergency, netizens and journalists are convinced that the elections may either be delayed or canceled altogether. However, as of late, Trump still hasn’t made such an announcement.
Journalist S.E. Cupp wants the public to think about the options that they have.
“Real talk: Should presidential candidates, including Trump, cancel big rallies in light of Coronavirus? And does that hugely change the election?” she tweeted.
Twitter user @MikeSau61201298 couldn’t help but ask House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on what should be done.
“@SpeakerPelosi I have a serious question on the election. With the coronavirus thing blowing up. Is it possible Trump could delay or cancel the election on the premise of a public health crisis or state of emergency type thing?” he wrote.
Political Flare claimed that no one wants to descend into irresponsible speculation but believing what Trump has to say has been especially difficult especially amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Hill’s Saage Enjeti caused, even more, worry among Americans after he said that not a single healthcare professional has confirmed that they are ready for what is going to hit them in the country ASAP.
Twitter user @Chuckflies claimed that once Trump no longer knows what else he could do, he will just cancel the elections.
“This is Trump's backup plan, if it looks like he's going to lose, he will just cancel election due to pandemic that he just helps create. Just saying!” he wrote.
TIME magazine claimed that the coronavirus is the biggest threat to Trump’s re-election because it has also resulted in a sharp drop in oil prices and other wider disruptions.
“The economic ramifications of the coronavirus are increasingly likely to weigh heavily on Trump’s re-election chances and quite possibly could cost him re-election,” Republican donor Dan Eberhart said.
